Specific Resistance
The specific resistance characterizes how strongly the cake resists flow. CellFit computes it for constant-pressure tests.
Method
CellFit fits a straight line to t/V versus V over the selected filtration data using linear regression:
- Slope and y-intercept of the fit are reported.
- The coefficient of determination (R²) indicates the quality of the fit.
The specific resistance is then derived from the slope together with the test conditions:
- Filtration area (S)
- Pressure (P)
- Filtrate dynamic viscosity
- Cake dry mass
- End-of-filtration volume
Note
Select the portion of the curve used for the regression so the fit covers the linear filtration region.
Requirements
Warning
The calculation needs the filtrate dynamic viscosity and the cake dry mass. If the cake dry mass is zero the calculation cannot proceed (division by zero).
Reading the result
- A high R² (close to 1) indicates a clean linear fit.
- The reported specific resistance is expressed in SI units derived from the inputs above.
