| Specific resistance | Measure of the cake's resistance to flow, from the t/V vs V regression. |
| Flow rate ratio (Fr) | Ratio comparing flow rates across the filtration. |
| Dynamic viscosity | Filtrate viscosity; an input to the specific resistance calculation. |
| Mass density | Filtrate density; converts mass to volume. |
| Dry mass | Mass of the dried cake. |
| Wet mass | Mass of the cake before drying. |
| Dryness | Proportion of solids in the cake. |
| Loaded mass | Mass loaded into the filtration cell. |
| Filtration area | Effective filtering surface of the cell. |
| Washing | Step performed after filtration to wash the cake. |
| End filtration volume | Filtrate volume at the end of the filtration step. |
